Diagnosis
The procedure of examination for hemorrhoids is usually taken this way: the physician examines patient's anus and rectum to search for swollen blood vessels that could show whether the patient has hemorrhoids or no. Also the doctor will use gloved finger to perform a digital rectal examination. This means of anal examination allows the specialist to seek for abnormalities. To perform a more thorough examination of anal canal and the anus the doctor usually uses such a medical tools as an anoscope (i.e. a tube which is hollow and lighted inside and which is so helpful for examining internal hemorrhoids) or a proctoscope (this tool is helpful for even better examination of the rectum). Other medical procedures may be taken in order to get more thorough results. Thus, sigmoidoscopy (i.e. using special medical tool for examining the rectum and lower colon - sigmoid) and colonoscopy (examination of the entire colon) are very useful in such cases. Lighted flexible tubes are used for such purposes.
Ulcers and Crohn disease are often associated with hemorrhoids. It's unknown why pregnant women get hemorrhoids, but it's obvious that they get it because of their pregnancy. You better believe, hemorrhoids are found in every organism, healthy or ill ones. Everyone has hemorrhoids, but they cause discomfort and problems only when they become swollen. It happens when the vascular cushions become of much bigger size, protrude and bring strong pain. Then they can be called hemorrhoids. Pregnancy is one of the causes of hemorrhoids. Excessive weight (obesity) can be another reason for that too. Somehow or other, even the food we eat can become one of the reasons leading to hemorrhoids. Thus, all the people who eat meals which are not rich in fiber have difficulties with defecation. Therefore, this makes them strain while passing the stool eventually causing in hemorrhoids. People who are fond of reading on the toilets are also subjected to getting hemorrhoids. Men and women over 50 usually have hemorrhoids too, because the tissue inside their anus becomes worse. Somehow or other, deteriorating of rectal tissues may start at age 30. Constipation and straining are two more reasons leading to hemorrhoids. We distinguish external and internal symptoms here. External symptoms are bleeding, pain and other unpleasant feelings. As for internal symptoms, they don't cause pain at all or cause really slight pain. Hemorrhoids are very unpleasant and bring real discomfort. That's the very reason why medical attention is required here. Strong tension close to the anus and abdomen are what a person feels if he has internal hemorrhoids. Very often the pain a person suffers from is a consequence of a spasm in the sphincter. Actually internal hemorrhoids are not as painful as external ones. The only sign that shows that a person has internal hemorrhoids is bleeding that takes place during the defecation. As soon as a person starts trying to empty his intestines, it makes the hemorrhoids to put pressure on the rectal veins resulting in bleeding. Sometimes internal hemorrhoids produces slime that makes a person feel itching in the anal area. It's rather annoying and unpleasant feeling. Somehow or other, this symptom of internal hemorrhoids is not so common among all the people. Some hemorrhoids should be treated if they bring you really unpleasant or strong pain. Although they'll be healed, the consequences of the diseases will remain for quite a long time. After healing internal hemorrhoids you will often feel some scarring, since the treatment of external hemorrhoids will leave much more unpleasant consequences - deposit of skin, which is permanent. It goes without saying, every man and woman has hemorrhoids, but the matter is in how serious the hemorrhoid is. As soon as you notice that your hemorrhoids has become large than usual or you observe blood in your stool, you should consult the doctor at once. Internal hemorrhoids are mostly indicated by anal bleeding. Nevertheless, very often anal bleeding may be a sign of digestive ailments. The physician should examine the anal area for blood vessels so that to see whether they're swollen or not, and to find out whether you have hemorrhoids. In case if you observe bleeding while passing the stool and the process is accompanied with fainting and dizziness, you shouldn't hesitate to consult the doctor at once. As for external hemorrhoids, the doctor just has to look at your rectal area in order to see whether you have this type of hemorrhoids or not. In order to examine you for internal hemorrhoids the doctor will use such a medical tools as anoscope, colonoscope and sigmoidoscope.
